How can this impact policy and decision making?
Through expert data analytics and consultation with academics and industry leaders Lewisham Council will be able to optimise various transport and logistical operations. The air quality measurements will create an 'evidence' baseline, helping to assess and validate the CLP traffic management scheme and emission reduction methods.
- Identify improvements in traffic flows that could lead to more efficient use of fleet deliveries or waste removal. This can reduce unnecessary road transport movements that will make it safer for other users as well as reduce pollution
- Help us better unbderstand traffic flows in the area, highlighting periods of peak and off peak construction traffic allowing optimisation of supply schedules to reduce the amount of trucks in the same place at the same time
- Cut vehicle waiting, idling and traffic
- Effective routing for the high traffic areas
- Suggestions for alternative cleaner machinery and vehicles.
Key findings and suggestions for improvements will be communicated back with developers and contractors through the ESC CLP forum.
